彼得·凯里二度荣获布克文学奖的小说《凯利帮真史》,聚焦于在澳大利亚文化史上享有中心地位的历史人物——爱德华·凯利。19世纪末,凯利曾率他的团伙,即所谓的“凯利帮”反叛英国移民政府的统治,得到诸多澳大利亚民众同情,形成了广泛影响。自此,凯利成为澳大利亚文化变迁的晴雨表,在不同历史阶段,一再被召唤来传达不同的文化理想。凯里对凯利的再现,涉及许多非传统改写,本文将围绕这些非传统改写,结合全球化背景下澳大利亚文学生产与英美文学主流市场现状,从性别和文类视角,探讨凯里的创作策略及其文学价值。
Peter Carey won the Booker Prize for Literature for his second novel, “The True Story of Kelly,” focusing on Edward Kelly, a historian who enjoyed a central place in the history of Australian culture. The late 19th century, Kelly led his group, the so-called “Kelly to help ” rebel against the government of British immigrants rule, get the sympathy of many Australians, formed a wide range of influence. Since then, Kelly has become a barometer of the cultural changes in Australia, in different historical stages, has repeatedly been summoned to convey different cultural ideals. Carey’s reappearance of Kelly involves many unconventional rewritings. Based on these non-traditional adaptations, this article will discuss the creative strategies of Carey and its cultural methods from the perspective of gender and genre, based on the situation of Australian literary production and the mainstream market of Anglo-American literature in the context of globalization.
