Cancers mentioned at the meeting included liver cancer associated with hepatitis B virus, cervical cancer associated with some human papilloma virus strains, and T cell leukemia caused by T lymphotropic virus I (HTLy-I). Burkitt’s lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, both of which are associated with Epstein-Barr virus. The information collected by the World Health Organization may be caused by viruses.
