新西兰音乐新西兰近百分之九十的人是欧洲移民和他们的后裔,他们从欧洲带来了故土传统的音乐形式:合唱队、管弦乐队、苏格兰风袋管乐队和声乐唱法。十九世纪末期,欧洲音乐在新西兰影响日增,当地毛利人的音乐深受其影响,但是毛利音乐有其地方和民族特色,有强大的生命力,特别是近几年来,新西兰政府予以保护和发扬,因此毛利音乐也在科学性方面从西方音乐中得到营养和提高,在新西兰也很流行。新西兰人民喜欢音乐,在各种文化艺术活动中,音乐是最为普及的。电台里整天都可以听到音乐播放,各地都有调频电台专门播放古典音乐和轻音乐。新西兰音乐联合会和伊丽莎白二世艺术委员会每年都要邀请一些西方国家的音乐家和演出团体来演出,以丰富人民的音乐生活。
