红烧狮子头曾是开国第一宴的主菜,也是周恩来最喜欢吃的一道菜。那时候的中国人生活水平较低,副食要凭票供应,能吃到一道像红烧狮子头这样的肉菜,已是相当难得的事情。周恩来素来生活节俭,但也是一个名副其实的美食家,尤其对于狮子头这道源自家乡的淮扬菜情有独钟。平时一有空闲,他甚至会自己下厨,亲自给大家做上一大盘的狮子头尝鲜。而每次他做的狮子头都会被众人一扫而光,连块肉渣都不剩。但凡吃过总理这道拿手菜的人,都说永远也不会忘掉
