Since the discovery of two enkephalin peptides (MET, MEK; leupeptin, LEK) by Hughes et al in 1975, they have found that there are more than 20 kinds of peptides that have opioid effects in vivo. Simon had suggested using the term endorphins to refer to endogenous morphine-like peptides, which are translated into endorphins in Chinese.
