南海西北部珊瑚礁在其发育过程中不但记录了环境变化的信息,而且同时也记录了该区地壳活动的信息,与珊瑚礁发育相关的地壳活动主要有断裂活动、地震活动和火山活动等.断裂活动在南海西北部珊瑚礁区的高分辨率电火花浅层地震剖面有清晰记录,并表现为新生的断裂切割珊瑚礁体;珊瑚礁区内地震活动较强,尤其是1994年12月31日和1995年1月10日在雷州半岛西南部海域发生了6.1级和6.2级地震,这两次地震对该区珊瑚礁的发育有较大的影响;南海西北部尤其是雷州半岛西南部第四纪火山活跃,对珊瑚礁的发育具有明显的控制作用,部分火山构成珊瑚礁的基座,个别出露海面为珊瑚岛.
The coral reefs in the northwestern South China Sea not only record the information of environmental changes during their development, but also record the crustal activity information of the area. The crustal activities related to coral reef development mainly include the fault activity, seismic activity and volcanic activity. High-resolution EDM shallow seismic profiles in the coral reef area in the northwestern South China Sea are clearly recorded and are characterized by newly formed fault-cut coral reefs; and strong seismic activity within the coral reefs, in particular, December 31, 1994 and 1995 On Sept. 10, 6.1 and 6.2 earthquakes occurred in the waters southwest of Leizhou Peninsula. These two earthquakes have a great impact on the development of coral reefs in the area; especially in the northwestern South China Sea, especially the Quaternary in southwestern Leizhou Peninsula The volcano is active and has obvious control over the development of coral reefs. Some volcanoes form the base of coral reefs and some of them are coral islands.
