Objective To analyze the dose-response relationship between male alcohol intake and serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. Methods A total of 758 males with drinking habits were analyzed by questionnaire and serum lipids. The correlation between alcohol intake and HDL-C level was analyzed. The regression equation was calculated and the correlation coefficient and regression coefficient were statistically tested . Results Male daily intake of alcohol within 80g, alcohol intake and serum HDL-C levels were positively correlated, the correlation coefficient r = 0.104 (P <0.005); linear regression equation was Y = 1.2348 + 0.0019x (regression coefficient test, P <0.001). Male daily intake of more than 80g alcohol, alcohol intake and serum HDL-C levels had no correlation (P> 0.05). Conclusions When the daily drinking amount of alcohol in men is less than 80g, the level of HDL-C increases with the increase of alcohol intake. As the amount of alcohol continues to increase, the dose-effect relationship disappears. Proposed male alcohol intake should be controlled within 80g / d.
