薛觉先先生去世40周年了。今天海内外各界知名人士和朋友隆重举行纪念活动,欣逢盛会,蒙邀请参加,十分高兴,衷心祝贺纪念活动圆满成功。我于近年来旅粤治病疗养,正在康复中。医生批准我参加演唱会助兴,将与郑培英小姐合唱《玉梨魂》;但因体弱,未便更多与各位领导同志及老朋友会晤畅叙,殊以为歉,现作书面发言聊表敬意。
Mr. Xue Jue Xian the 40th anniversary of the death. Today, celebrants and friends from all walks of life both at home and abroad hold a grand ceremony to commemorate the grand occasion and are invited to participate in the event. We are very happy to extend our heartfelt congratulations on the successful commemorative activities. In recent years, I have traveled to Guangdong for treatment and recovery and are recovering. The doctor approved me to participate in the concert and will sing the song “Jade Pear” with Miss Cheng Pei-ying. However, due to frailty, I am more sorry to meet with all the leading comrades and old friends.
