在大学英语教学改革研究过程中,我们一直将网络环境下的英语教学改革作为研究的一个重要方向。根据各项调查结果表明,58%的学生口语交流的目的或动机与完成视听说作业任务和口语考试要求相关。而以满足今后工作需要、个人发展/文化交流为内容的交流动机者比例小于50%,说明大多数学生仅有短期完成任务目标的动机,缺乏长效性动机意识,这不仅说明了所在理工科院校学生课外学习活动动力不足的原因,也反映出与重点高校学生之间存在学习动机上的差异。创建英语交流环境的英语教学改革已将“课堂”概念泛化,互联网、校园网、网络教室使传统的课堂得到延展;校园广播台、电视台、各类校园文化活动有利于创建语言交流氛围。如何用好这些便利条件,并在结合学生兴趣、能力、特点的基础上,营造立体化校园英语交流与学习环境,发挥环境因素对语言能力建构的积极作用,乃是当前大学英语教学中应关注的重要问题。多媒体及网络环境已成为高校大学英语教学改革后取得的最大成就,教材与教法也因之统一。但单纯依赖课堂教学环境并不能提高学生的英语表达能力,“大学生课后英语交流实施情况”调查中反映出学生对英语学习与交流环境的期待,使我们认识到创建立体化的校园英语交流环境的意义。
