Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of detecting trace elements in type Ⅱ diabetic patients. Methods: The contents of magnesium, zinc, copper, iron and calcium were detected by colorimetry, pyridine azo color spectrophotometry and Cal-magite. Results: The levels of zinc and magnesium in patients with type Ⅱ diabetes were lower than those in normal control group and the contents of copper were higher than those in control group. There was no significant difference between calcium and iron levels in normal controls. Conclusion: The level of trace elements is closely related to type II diabetes mellitus, which has important clinical significance.
