自屈原楚辞开始,“美人”兴寄在中国古典诗歌中形成深远传统。“美人”兴寄甚至用于文人的现实交际,表达一种难以直言的情感,往往可以收到非同寻常的沟通效果,此种现象值得深思。女性作为象征符号一旦形成传统,必将影响到文学的创作和过度阐释。“美人”是中国古代诗歌中的常见意象。从屈原楚辞开始,“美人”意象常常和比兴寄托联系在一起。建安时期,曹丕、曹植、徐干等诗人都有不少女性题材的诗歌,曹植更是有意识地继承和发展了屈原《离骚》把女性置于喻体地位
