In the 1940s, while newly emerging woodcuts were in full swing in various parts of China, Sun Chang-fei (1920-1986) quietly conducted his woodcut exploration on this land in northeast China. In the face of a hostile political environment, he tenaciously followed Chinese spirit. In his brief printmaking career, we have left a variety of woodcut creation. The woodcut “Car” (see cover three), was a 1945 work by Sun Chang Fei. It focused on a production team in the workshop that solidified the moment of production into the wood, with rich picture details, a rich live atmosphere and a strong Woodcut tension and has outstanding artistic appeal.
