足尺路面加速加载试验是国际上先进的一种试验研究手段。面对中国公路建设、养护和管理并重的发展形势,为了适应大交通量和重载交通时代的来临,采用足尺路面加速加载试验方法是提高对沥青路面变化规律的认识,加强对新材料、新工艺的适用性验证和评价,提高中国公路路面耐久性的一个关键技术手段。足尺环道建设在中国公路技术研究史上具有里程碑式的意义,环道建设必须具备实用性、前瞻性、科学性和开放性的特点。在充分征求全国各省区市意见的基础上,借鉴全球已建成环道的建设经验是十分必要的。
