Investment and Partnership BP and Partners Plan to Build Oil Pipeline to Connect Caspian Sea and Turkey After eight years of controversy, BP and its partners decided to invest 2.9 billion U.S. dollars to build Ceyhan, a port linking the Caspian and Turkish ports, The 1,090-kilometer oil pipeline will be the longest pipeline for BP construction. The pipeline is scheduled to begin construction in the first quarter of next year and completed in 2004 with a capacity of 1 million barrels per day. The consortium led by BP plans to invest 13 billion U.S. dollars to develop three 5.3 billion barrels of oilfields in Azerbaijan in order to make pipeline construction more economically viable. It is estimated that by 2008, the output of these three oil fields will increase from the current 120,000 barrels per day to 800,000 barrels.
