In August 2010, a team led by researcher Gao Lizhi from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, completed the sequence determination, splicing and assembly of the Oryza rufipogon genome, and obtained the frame diagram of the whole genome de novo sequence of Oryza rufipogon. This is the first wild rice genome-wide sequencing project authored by Chinese scientists and the first complete genome map of wild rice with high heterozygosity in the world. Studies have shown that the wild rice genome size of about 3700000000 base pairs, contains a total number of about 40,000 genes, the depth of the genome has been sequenced
