By the beginning of 2002, the government began to relax its supervision of the media. More and More Media Forms Journalism has existed in Afghanistan for hundreds of years. Since 1873 the first (flatbed) printing press was introduced from India, the publishing industry began to take root in Afghanistan. When Prime Minister Shah Mahmud advocated a relatively open election policy, the parliament that he founded was later called the “free parliament.” The new parliament soon adopted a press and publication law, with several newspapers operating
