1987年5月6日,我国大兴安岭地区发生特大森林火灾,火灾持续27个昼夜,烧毁70万公顷森林,3座城镇变成废墟,近200人丧生,6万多人无家可归,成为建国以来毁林面积最大、伤亡人员最多、损失最为惨重的一次特大森林灾难。导致这次火灾的直接原因,在已查明的4个起火点中,就有两个是吸烟引起的。1994年11月27日,辽宁省阜新市艺宛歌舞厅发生特大火灾,造成233人死亡、20人受伤。经调查,火灾直接原因是一位客人利用卷着的报纸燃火点烟,随手将未熄灭
