上海微波技术研究所是机电部直属科研单位,主要承担数据传输通信技术、微波技术和探测技术的开发和应用研究。现有职工600余人,工程技术人员330余人,其中高、中级科研人员200多人,并拥有一百多名经验丰富的技术工人和全套加工设备。总部设在上海武宁路423号,占地30亩,拥有二万多平方米的建筑设施。全所设有微波技术、微波工程、通信技术、通信系统工程、探测技术、工艺技术、仪器测试技术、科技情报等八个研究室和二个试制加工车间。近十年来,该所取得科研成果120多项,其中达到国际和国内先进水平的有20多项,多次获得国家、部、市和中国电子技术研究院的科技进步奖。数据传输通信是该所主要专业内容之一,有一大批技术力量从事通信系统与设备的研制 Shanghai Institute of Microwave Technology is directly under the Ministry of Electrical and scientific research units, the main commitment to data transmission and communication technology, microwave technology and detection technology development and application research.
