赵明拍摄的不多几部电影大多是为了配合政治形势的需要,他一直在政治要求与艺术追求之间进行斡旋。每当赵明觉得对时代、政治有所愧疚之际,便是他的电影的艺术性得以彰显之时。赵明对自己影片的艺术形式常常有较高评价,可对影片的政治意义和主题却表现出极不自信。他没用庸俗社会学的尺度来审视自己的作品,而是在用符合艺术审美规律的眼光来分析电影艺术的特性。
Most of the few movies shot by Zhao Ming are in response to the needs of the political situation. He has been mediating between political demands and artistic pursuits. Whenever Zhao Ming feels guilty about the times and politics, it is the time when the art of his film is revealed. Zhao often has a high opinion of the art form of his own film, but he can show very little confidence in the political significance and theme of the film. Instead of using vulgar sociology to examine his work, he analyzes the characteristics of cinema art in a way that is consistent with the aesthetic laws of art.
