He has been mediating between political demands and artistic pursuits. Whenever Zhao Ming feels guilty about the times and politics, it is the time when the art of his film is revealed. Zhao often has a high opinion of the art form of his own film, but he can show very little confidence in the political significance and theme of the film. Instead of using vulgar sociology to examine his work, he analyzes the characteristics of cinema art in a way that is consistent with the aesthetic laws of art.
