In June 2014, the advertising market as a whole posted over 74.5 billion yuan, up 4% on a year-on-year basis and 6% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. On a year-on-year basis, the gains in the three major sectors of computer and accessories, pharmaceuticals and health products, and electrical appliances were the largest, 58%, 41% and 39% respectively. The biggest drop over the previous year was in the tobacco and accessories industry, a drop of 55%; followed by office supplies and equipment, a decrease of 38%; real estate and cosmetics / personal hygiene products followed a 14% decline. On a monthly basis, government / social / political organizations recorded the largest increase of 75%. Computers and accessories and retail services ranked second and third, up by 45% and 18% respectively.
