世界贸易组织(WTO)的专家预测,由于中国1999年的对外贸易表现出色,中国的进出口总额在世界贸易中的排名可能由1998年的第11位上升到第9位。1999年我国进出口总额达到3607亿美元,比上年增长11.3%;其中出口1949亿美元,增长6.1%;进口1658亿美元,增长18.2%。增长速度大大超过了4%的世界贸易平均增长速度。改革开放初的1978年,我国的外贸进出口总额仅为206.4亿美元,其中出口占世界出口贸易总额的比重为0.75%,进出口总额在世界贸易中的排名为第32位。
Experts from the World Trade Organization (WTO) predict that due to the excellent performance of China’s foreign trade in 1999, China’s total import and export volume may rise from 11th in 1998 to 9th in world trade. In 1999, China’s total import and export volume reached 360.7 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.3 percent over the previous year. Of this total, exports reached 19.9 billion U.S. dollars, up 6.1 percent, and imports reached 165.8 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.2 percent. The rate of growth has greatly exceeded the average rate of world trade growth of 4%. In 1978, at the beginning of reform and opening up, China’s foreign trade volume totaled only 20.64 billion U.S. dollars, of which exports accounted for 0.75% of the world’s total exports and ranked 32nd in world trade.
