《万松金阙图》是南宋一件粉饰太平、歌功颂德的作品,主要表达了“明道阐教”的创作主旨。赵伯骕的宗室身份使他在继承绘画传统、表达审美趣味等方面具有独特性,《万松金阙图》的图像特征主要有:创造性地继承了唐代李思训《江帆楼阁图》的绘画传统(构图和设色为主),同时吸收了马和之等文人画家的笔墨新形式和新趣味,形成了没骨点染相结合,笔法清细繁复、格调清新秀雅的新风格。因此,《万松金阙图》可以视为宋代青绿山水从追求北方的雄浑之美向江南水乡清雅之美转变的一件典型作品,为其后元代文人山水画的发展开创了新局面。
