In June 1946, 165 anti-fascist journalists from 21 countries, including the former Soviet Union and Poland, met in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. At the meeting, an international news organization named “International Association of Journalists” was born (Russian Federation International Organization of Journalists; abbreviated IOJ; German Organization Internationale des Journalistes, abbreviated OIJ) . The predecessor of this organization was the Allied Federation of Press Workers or Free Press States established in 1941 and enjoyed B-level consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council that was formed in the past.
