Lymphocytes are one of the important cell populations that secrete hematopoietic colony-stimulating factor (CSF). The experimental results show that the adherent cells in the spleen and thymus of mice have a significant role in promoting the secretion of CSF from lymphocytes. When the adherent cells in the spleen and thymus were partially removed, the level of CSF activity secreted by lymphocytes was significantly decreased; the dynamic observation of spleen lymphocytes secreting CSF showed that lymphocytes and adherent cells coexisted at the same time, and the activity level of secreted CSF was increased with culture. As time went by, it increased, but in part of the removal of adherent cells, the level of CSF activity quickly declined. This suggests that adherent cells in the spleen and thymus have an important role in supporting lymphocytes in the spleen and thymus to secrete CSF.
