The purpose is to block the spread of HIV by blood transfusion to enhance blood safety standards in Zhejiang Province. Methods Since 2011, the project of blocking the transfusion of HIV through blood transfusion has been carried out. In view of the different stages of blood transfusion from blood vessel to blood vessel, systematic and comprehensive measures were adopted, including the early active withdrawal and confidential abandonment of blood, Inactivated methylene blue plasma virus, the latter part of the rational use of blood transfusions in clinical science. Results In the 4 years since the project was carried out, the rapid increase of HIV infection among blood donors across the province was significantly checked (P <0.05). Blood nucleic acid screening covered 26.5% in 2011 and 51.2% in 2014, and the inactivation of plasma virus Work blood stasis increased significantly, 75% (9/12) of blood transfusions accounted for more than 5% of clinical blood use, the province’s blood safety was guaranteed. Conclusion The prevention of HIV transmission through blood transfusion is a systematic and comprehensive initiative since the province launched a case of HIV infection without blood transfusion and markedly improved its blood safety standards. Project achievements need long-term maintenance, promotion and innovation.
