中国海洋学会和中国地理学会副理事长、中国科学院学部委员、我国著名地理学家和海洋学家、本刊主编、南京大学任美锷教授,由于五十年来在海洋地理学和喀斯特地貌学等研究领域作出了卓越的贡献,英国皇家地理学会决定授予他维多利亚奖章。任美锷教授今年6月2日在英国伦敦海德公园演讲大厅举行的授奖仪式上,接受了由该会会长乔治·毕晓普亲自授给的维多利亚奖章。
