This paper examines two issues related to urbanization in the 21st century: We need designers to use a variety of methods to accommodate urban changes and to follow the city’s complex dynamics, while at the same time contradictory and unified efforts to create a flexible, enduring Urbanism. In addition, this article describes a way to create greater spatial variability in or between any given city. In order to achieve this second objective, it is imperative to tackle those standardized and remanufactured architectural remains in order to achieve more specific material assembly. This raises the question of how to exploit the potential of digital design and construction methods for application to still largely untested urbanization.
