In 1943, the situation changed during the Second World War. The Allied Forces started mass-bombing the German soil in an attempt to destroy Germany’s military system and cut off the supply of German weapons. In the beginning, German industry was indeed hit hard. However, the Germans changed air tactics rapidly and large numbers of Allied bombers were shot down. In the meantime, the German military factory that was not severely lethal killed its production soon. Tanks, planes, artillery and so on have been steadily opening up to the front. As a result, the Allies conducted a thorough and detailed study of the German industrial chain. They found that the seemingly insignificant industry of ball bearings was related to the production of all heavy weapons and that almost all the factories were concentrated in the town of Schweinfurt.
