东芝2003年10月6回就该公司与NEC联合向DVD论坛提交的新一代光盘规格“HD DVD”(开发代号为AOD)举行了说明会,并在会上展示了基于HD DVD规格的最新样机。该公司在2003年10月7日开幕的日本电子产品展“CEATEC JAPAN 2003”上展示了该样机。2003年1O月6日的说明会上还利用以MPEG-2格式进行编码的HDTV图像进行了播放演示。图像演示是将20Mbit/秒的1920×1080像素的图像按照60半帧/秒的HDTV视频编码制作而成的。
Toshiba held a briefing on the new-generation optical disk specification “HD DVD” (code-named AOD) submitted by the company to NEC jointly with NEC on October 6, 2003 and presented the latest prototype based on the HD DVD specification . The company demonstrated the prototype at CEATEC JAPAN 2003 at the Japan Electronics Show, which opened on October 7, 2003. At a press conference on January 6, 2003, an HDTV image encoded in the MPEG-2 format was also played.
