She is about 100 kilometers away from Guangzhou. It takes more than two hours by car to reach Kaiping City on the banks of the Tanjiang River. Kaiping was a hometown of architecture very early and Kaiping people built many distinctive buildings for their hometown. Her modern architecture is new and elegant. In the development zone, you can see the modern architecture that stands on the banks of the Tanjiang River. The five-star Peninsula Hotel is across the river from the hotel. The bustling ancient city is full of old houses and books. In urban areas, there are many blocks that make people forget about it. Another worth mentioning, however, should be the watchtowers that have stood for long in the midst of the Wu-Yi field with different styles of Chinese and Western cultures. These strange buildings scattered across the Kaiping countryside, which are distinct from traditional Chinese architecture, combine ancient Roman-style pillars and arches, baroque vaults and decorative styles with towers of Chinese coastal villages that guard against banditry since ancient times. Together, the architects have so far failed to define these small buildings.
