According to the appropriate general formula of the impact longitudinal profile of the roll surface, the fragmentation of single ore particles in a fixedly mounted roll mill was analyzed. This model allows one to evaluate the equivalent grain-nodal diameter of irregular grains, about 90% of which meet the nominal mesh size. Consistent with the model, the energy consumption required for crushed single quartz, dolomite, limestone and hematite is closely related to the difference between the equivalent diameter and the nip.
