楠木园遗址地处巫峡东段长江南岸的二级台地上,隶属巴东县官渡口镇楠木园村,东距巴东县城约十公里。这里南北两面均为高山,北面是壁立的悬崖;南坡稍缓,地势大致呈面江的簸箕形,簸箕的底部坡度相对平缓。东西两端各有一个岬角伸入长江,远处有高山阻挡,长江在此蜿蜒而去,形成一个相当封闭的地理空间。其东侧有一个天然小港湾。这里气候适宜,冬暖夏凉,降水充沛;土层堆积厚,是巫峡内难得的人类聚落选址。遗址海拔高程100-140米,东西长约1300米,南北宽约100米,面积逾10万平方米。
Nanmu Park site is located in the eastern section of Wu Gorge on the southern bank of the Yangtze River Delta, belonging to Badong County town of Nanmu Mucun, east of Badong County about ten kilometers.
