At the end of 2014, Guangxi’s 12th National Congress of Trade Unions made a strategic plan for the work of trade unions in the entire region for the next 5 years, demanding that trade unions across the region should highlight the basic duties of safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests and make new progress in building harmonious labor relations. This major decision conforms to the law of development of the trade union movement under the conditions of a market economy and reflects the new requirements of the party committees and governments on giving full play to the role of the trade unions in building a harmonious society and complies with the requirements of the broad masses of workers and staff members on behalf of the workers’ New expectation of duty. Under the new situation, trade unions, especially grassroots trade unions, fulfill their basic duties of safeguarding their rights and establish an entry point for harmonious labor relations.
