公证法律援助,是指公证当事人申请办理公证事项时,公证机构按照法律援助部门的指派或根据公证法律法规的规定,对符合公证法律援助条件的当事人减免公证费用的一种法律保障制度,包括两种情形:一是公证机构按照法律援助部门的指派,为符合法律援助条件的自然人免费提供公证法律服务;二是公证机构按照公证法律法规规章规定直接为符合法律援助条件的当事人减免公证费提供公证法律服务。
