Objective To study the independence of bubble-shaped metacercariae by morphological and infectious animal experiments. Methods 200 randomly selected metacercariae of Paragonimus westermani in Yongtai County were collected. The size, shape and infection of animals were observed microscopically. The eggs and adults were compared and analyzed. Results Normal metacercariae and bubbly metacercariae of Paragonimus westermani were significantly different in size, wall thickness, excretory vesicles, and post-cercariae, but bubbly metaplasia could be transformed into normal-shaped metacercariae in normal saline. Infection Animals obtained eggs, adults and normal metacercariae infection was no significant difference. Conclusion Bubble-shaped metacercariae are not isolated species but a special form of Paragonimus westermani, which may be associated with the high infection rate of crabs (or the death of crabs) resulting in the infection of cercariae in crabs Nutritional deficiencies.
