The Brazilian National Railways (RFFSA) has proposed an investment plan by 2010. Brazil’s national railway is expected to triple in volume within the next 20 years from 80.8 million t to 265.5 million t in 2010. During the investment required will reach 13.4 billion US dollars (1989 prices). In total, 2200 new machines will be purchased
