Henry James is a 19th-century American novelist. His early works are mostly based on the contradictions and conflicts between the European and American cultures. He tried hard to seek the ideal state to keep himself in balance. However, in his creation, due to the fear of the real world, neither the novelist nor the novelist can construct an ideal world. When the fictional characters and their authors agree on the psychological personality, the novelist’s unconscious surfaced in the text, and the real reasons for its contradictions and conflicts are revealed.
