The molecular extinction coefficients of single molecule (HA) and dimeric molecule (H_2A_2) of naphthenic acid in carbon tetrachloride were determined by infrared absorption spectroscopy as ε_1 (1776cm -1) = (1.72 ± 0.09) × 10 2 ε 2 (1728 cm -1) = (1.05 ± 0.02) × 10 -3 The dimerization constant of naphthenic acid in carbon tetrachloride and its association constant with 2-octanol are K 2 = ( H 2 A 2) _0 / (HA) _0 ~ 2 = (2.3 ± 0.2) × 10 ~ 2 L / mol K_ (association) = (HA · ROH) _0 / (HA) _0 (ROH) _0 = (3.9 ± 0.3 ) × 10 ~ 1 L / mol
