C 1027 is a new macromolecular protein antitumor antibiotic selected from the metabolites of Streptomyces globisporus C 1027 in Qianjiang County of Hubei Province. It consists of an acidic protein and a chromophore. The chromophore has a new enediyne structure with a molecular weight of 845 Da, which is the active moiety of the C 1027 molecule. The protein portion consists of 110 common amino acids and has a calculated molecular weight of 10 500 Da.
