上海市教委信息中心是上海教育与科研网(Shemet)建设的具体组织实施单位。该网采用国际先进的技术与装备,以上海交通大学为网络中心,由八所高校构成主干网,并已连接20多所高校,促进了各校科研水平和现代化管理水平的迅速提高;此外还接入了部分中小学。该网重点开发了远程教育、远程会诊、中国服装、文化信息库及中小学现代化教育手段应用等项目。为了让更多的人了解上海市教委信息中心的工作,为了更好地推动上海市的科学与教育网的建设,尤其是中小学网络及其应用的建设,特组织一批文章较系统地介绍有关计算机的知识,教育与科研网的建设情况及其取得的丰硕成果,以达到互相交流共同提高的目的。
