Franz Kafka is one of the most influential writers in the entire Western literature of the 20th century and is known as “the explorer of modern art” and “the guru of Western modernist literature.” Calvino, the novelist of Italy, aroused academic concern because of his “author of writers”. With his energetic form of innovation and deep and wide ideological connotation, Calvino opened up an alternative artistic space for his novels. The Future Millennium Memo collects the first five chapters of Calvino’s “Norton Speech” at Harvard University and highlights Calvino’s ideological wisdom about literature. In this paper, Calvino ’s “future millennium memorandum” to Kafka’s representative works “Metamorphosis” to analyze its stylistic features.
