Teacher talk is the language which teachers use to organize and manage the EFL classrooms and implement their teaching plans. It is the most important source of student’s input and the primary teachers’ behavior. Motivation is a kind of affective factor that has great effect on learners’ English learning. Many researchers have researched the teacher talk and learning motivation, but the research of correlation between teacher talk and students’ learning motivation was rare. Through analyzing the correlation between teacher talk and students’ learning motivation in senior high school English classroom, the thesis ultimate aim is to find out the appropriate teacher talk to improve students’ motivation. According to the results of the study, it is suggested that teachers should realize the importance of using teacher talk appropriately in English classrooms and provide learners more opportunities to produce more output, train students to manage their own learning effectively and create a relaxing atmosphere for students’ foreign language learning.
