旅游管理专业是研究旅游业经营管理的一门新兴学科。它属于工商管理下的二级学科,有很大的发展潜力和发展空间。随着国际经济发展的全球化和中国经济的快速发展,旅游业必定将会更加繁荣,因此对旅游行业的管理要求和标准也随之提升。到目前中国已经开设旅游管理专业的高等院校也逐渐增多,甚至有授予研究生和博士学位的高校。同时旅游管理专业对专业能力和素质有严格要求。旅游管理学科研究范偏向于研究旅游企业管理、旅游资源开发与旅游市场营销、旅游经济学以及会展服务与管理等学科领域和建设。
