《查泰莱夫人的情人》曾被凯特米利特喻为“准宗教性质的宣传品”。劳伦斯在其中大肆宣扬了女性对男性生殖器的神圣崇拜,并塑造了其理想的女性角色查泰莱夫人。与之形成鲜明对比的梅勒斯的前妻,伯莎库茨则是被劳伦斯剥夺了声音的“缺席”女性。她在男权话语中被建构、被象征化、被定义。她的女性主体意识遭到了劳伦斯与梅勒斯的大肆抨击。然而,也正是伯莎的女性主体意识赋予了她解构的力量。劳伦斯通过男女主人公建立起的“伪和谐”也最终在她的解构力量下坍塌。
“Lady Chatterley’s Lover” has been referred to by Kate Millitet as “a quasi-religious propaganda.” Lawrence in which to advertise the sacred worship of women’s genitalia and shaping up its ideal female role chatterley lady. Lawrence’s “pseudo-harmony”, established by the hero and heroine, finally collapsed under her deconstruction power.
