China’s Progressive Reform China has gone through 30 years of reform and opening up and has gone from a totally dependent on state-owned and collective economy to a mixed economy dominated by private-owned enterprises. Unlike state-owned enterprises, private-owned enterprises in China have been trying their best to survive during the reform and opening up period. As they grew stronger they became the engines driving the country’s economy forward and the new force competing with multinationals in the home market. For example, in 2007, 70% of Zhejiang’s revenue (about 245 billion U.S. dollars) came from private-owned enterprises - the sum of GDP in Finland as a whole.
