Although resins have been used to repair concrete for many years, there is a lack of convincing data on their role in this work. This is mainly due to the absence of a proper test to evaluate the repair process. Here’s an example of a test that faithfully assesses the effectiveness of resin impregnation of cracks, repair of damaged concrete with resin mortar, and the use of resin primers when fresh concrete is poured. The test piece is a rectangular column with a sloping fracture that has been repaired or a sloping junction between the original concrete and the repair material. The test specimen is subjected to a pressure test and compared directly with a concrete cylinder of the same dimensions and undamaged. As a result, repairs are subject to high shear forces and can be assessed using the same simple project of cylinder or cube strength, which engineers use to determine the quality of unaffected concrete.
