导航星全球定位系统(GPS)5号卫星发生了一次最不寻常的两个反作用轮故障,导致卫星姿态和速度控制系统无法按设计功能工作。为使卫星恢复正常工作,采用了一种全新的混合结构,即把两个反作用轮和肼发动机结合起来使用。这种混合系统曾使天线指向地球,太阳阵对太阳定向,但是,因为推力器点火产生的扰动对卫星轨道的影响太大,使卫星导航系统无法按规定要求导航。文中论述了这种离奇的故障以及采用混合系统挽救卫星的尝试。
Navigational Star Global Positioning System (GPS) Satellite Satellites One of the most unusual two reaction wheel failures occurred that caused satellite attitude and speed control systems to fail to function as designed. In order to get the satellite back to normal operation, a completely new hybrid structure was used, combining the two reaction wheels with a hydrazine engine. The hybrid system used to point the antenna at Earth and the Sun at the Sun. However, satellite turbomachinery was not capable of navigating as the turbulence generated by the ignition of the thruster affected the satellite orbit to a great extent. This article discusses this bizarre failure and the attempt to save the satellite with a hybrid system.
