1922年5月在广州召开的第一次全国劳动大会是中国产业工人诞生后的第一次工人代表大会,对全国工人运动影响深远。当时的广东省长兼粤军总司令陈炯明对工人阶级采取同情态度,有限度地支持工人组织及工人运动的发展。陈炯明虽未立足制度层面上改善工人阶级的地位,其社会改造的政治抱负也具有很大的局限性,但期间他的相关政治言论及举措对于工人阶级生活、教育等状况的改善仍具有一定的积极意义,对第一次全国劳动大会召开前后广东工人组织及运动的发展起到了一定的积极作用。
