[Moderator’s Message] The Chinese revolution that took place in the 20th century brought drastic changes to Chinese rural society. This change is not only reflected in the political model, economic system and social structure, but also in rural culture. For the relationship between revolution and rural culture, in our opinion, the revolution has drawn rich nutrition from rural culture, but has to bear the constraints brought by rural culture. As for the research on this issue, there are not many ink paintings by Chinese and foreign scholars. In view of this, we organized this essay in the hope of revealing the complex relationship between revolution and rural culture through the investigation of specific issues.
