This is one of the great contributions of linguistics. Deductive thinking led linguistic research to shift from empiricism to rationalism and to push linguistics to begin a real transition to natural science. However, the position and influence of deductive thinking in different theoretical stages of conversion-generated grammar are not the same, and thus affect the natural sciences of linguistics.
